1 May Deadline Reminder: Claim Your Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant

The closing date for businesses to confirm eligibility and upload verification details (received from their local authority) for the Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) grant is 1 May 2024.

Payments will commence from late April 2024. 

What is the ICOB grant:

• This one-time grant is intended to help small and medium-sized businesses with increased costs associated with running a business.
• The ICOB grant is not a waiver for commercial rates.
• To be eligible for the ICOB grant, businesses must operate from a location that is commercially rateable by a local authority and must be compliant with their rates arrangements with their local authority.  

How is the ICOB grant calculated:

• The grant value is calculated based on the 2023 rates bill for their property.
• Businesses with a rates bill of up to €10,000 will receive a grant that equals half of their 2023 bill.
• A fixed grant of €5,000 will be provided to those with a rates bill ranging from €10,000 to €30,000.
• Businesses with a rates bill in excess of €30,000 do not qualify for this grant.
