Civil Partnership Tax Bill to be Enacted before Dáil Summer Recess
It was noted in the Dáil debates this week that a Bill providing for the necessary taxation measures under the Civil Partnerships Act 2010 will be put before the Dáil shortly. It is expected to be enacted before the summer recess of the Dáil.
Committee Stage of Finance Bill Scheduled for 7 June
The Committee Stage of the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2011 is ordered for Tuesday 7 June. The second stage in the Dáil took place last week. In the second stage speech of the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2011 the Minister for Finance noted:
- That the forthcoming Social Welfare Bill which will include legislation for reduction in Employer’s PRSI, halving the rate of employer’s PRSI until end-2013 on jobs that pay up to €356 per week, will be published in early June. This measure will take effect from 1 July next.
- The existing Employer Job (PRSI) Incentive Scheme will remain in place until the end of this year so that enterprises and businesses that had planned to take on staff under this scheme in that period may continue to do so.
- The Social Welfare Bill will also legislate for the abolition of the charge to Employers’ PRSI on Share-Based Remuneration with effect from 1 January 2011. The imposition of this charge on employers needlessly increases the costs of doing business in Ireland and has the potential to negatively affect current employment levels and future investment decisions. Businesses operate under strict budgetary control in the current economic climate and increasing their costs is unwise.
